The unidentified teacher took herself to the hospital after the incident and had "swelling, pain, and minor burns," according to local reports.

Police said Teagen Leonhart, 46, was charged with child endangerment and public intoxication. She reportedly had cannabis and a prescription drug in her system.

The New Jersey teacher, Janiece Jenkins, saved the nine-year-old with a bottle cap stuck in his throat by performing a Heimlich maneuver.

"I'm just fed up with the racism around, especially at our academic institutions," Joel Mungo said. "It's time to take a stand."

Gunter Uwents, 37, confessed to murdering a teacher who he felt humiliated him as a seven-year-old child, Belgian prosecutors said, per The Guardian.

During a school board meeting earlier this week, parents called for the teacher to be fired, according to local reports.

The teacher continued to use the slur in front of the schools' principal, who is Black, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Emails obtained by Insider show the teacher said that he was "stunned" by the allegations and didn't consider himself to be a threat to students.

The staffer was taken into custody on Friday after being accused of writing at least one of the notes "in hope of closing school," the superintendent said.

Caroline Melanie Lee, the teacher, told Insider she was in a state of shock and "did not see this one coming" but declined to provide further comment.

"Indeed, it appears that there is a different set of rules if you are an LGBTQ+ educator," 22-year-old John Wallis said on Twitter after resigning.
